Synchrony customer service says, 'We made a mistake calculating the interest so we stopped payment.', 'Oh, we do owe you the interest and will send another check', 'We will look into it next week and call you back.' and 'Not sure how to fix this.'
I also have emails saying they are debiting my other bank's accounts to fund the CDs. I got a letter in the mail thanking me for opening new accounts and renewing my CD - none of which I actually did. I am out the returned check fee from my brick and mortar bank. However, if it eventually arrives, will I be able to cash it or will they stop payment again? Why did they reopen all of my accounts? What kind of mistakes are they going to make in trying to close them? What kind of mistakes will they make with my 1099-INT after all this? The employees are well meaning but this bank is stupid and incompetent at this time.Īs of now, I do not have my money from Synchrony. I called customer service and they now agree I am supposed to get the check. Today I discovered they stopped payment on the interest check because they decided that they should have charged early withdrawal penalties after all. The accounts were closed and I had a check for the interest they had not given me when I closed the accounts. My problems began with their system upgrade when my accounts disappeared and became inaccessible. Please do yourself a favor and stay far away from Synchrony Bank.
